Cleaning is not just a chore, but also a necessity for a healthy, safe, and pleasant living environment. When it comes to cleaning, most of us think about the visible cleanliness - such as vacuuming carpets, mopping floors and wiping down surfaces. But have you really been cleaning well? As good as we do?
There are some important tasks most of us tend to overlook when it comes to cleaning. Disinfecting frequently touched surfaces and items is one of the most overlooked activities. It’s especially important to dedicate a little extra time to these items as they get touched several times throughout the day such as doorknobs, banisters, cleaning products, light switches and keyboards. Disinfecting these surfaces can help prevent the spread of germs as they are hot spots for bacteria and viruses.
Similarly, a great deal of dust and debris can get collected in the ventilation system, ceiling fans, and other forgotten placers. We often don’t address them and just proceed with our regular cleaning routine which doesn’t eliminate the micro particles of dust and debris. To get rid of them, we have to use air filters and vacuum cleaners every now and then and not just rely on daily dusting.
Another obvious task that we don’t pay attention to is cleaning behind and under our appliances. Food residue, dust and tiny pieces of food can get stuck and can make the whole area smelly and dirty if not noticed and cleaned regularly. This can get even worse if there are any pets in the house that like to sneak below the furniture and spill food in these areas.
We can also forget about cleaning outside our houses, which is just as important as cleaning inside. Sweeping and clearing the porch, wiping off the cobwebs, etc. can make a big difference in the overall cleanliness of the house.
In conclusion, good cleaning isn’t just limited to the visible surfaces and tasks but also includes small activities and careful attention to cleaning all areas inside and outside the house, including the forgotten areas. Disinfecting frequently touched surfaces, cleaning behind and under our appliances, and cleaning the porch are some of the most important tasks we tend to overlook when it comes to cleaning. Hence, it's important to make it a part of your regular cleaning routine in order to make sure that you really have been cleaning well.
